One of two active volcanoes in Costa Rica's Central Mountain Range, Poas is accessible by paved road, almost all the way to the crater's edge, one of the widest in the world. From the visitor's center, walk a half mile to the lookout point for a close-up look at the power of a volcano.

After a BBQ lunch, continue to Monteverde, where our home for the next two days is an eco-lodge set on 35 acres of land located just outside of the reserve, providing accommodations in harmony with the surrounding beauty.
