"DAY 1 : ARRIVE NAIROBI Airport reception and transfer to your Nairobi hotel. (Optional afternoon sightseeing may be arranged if you arrive early in the day.) Overnight at a the Stanley Hotel or similar. [meals on own] Observe rescued chimpanzees at the Jane Goodall Institute Sanctuary. DAY 2 : SWEETWATERS RESERVE AND CHIMP SANCTUARY Set out on a scenic drive through the coffee, pineapple and tea plantations of central Kenya to the Sweetwaters Wildlife Sanctuary (approximate driving time is three to four hours). This beautiful private game reserve and home to rare species such as beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe and black rhino. Day and night game drives reveal the full range of African wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and hippo. Visit up close with ""Morani"", the tame rhino at the wildlife orphanage and observe chimps from the Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Other optional activities include walking safaris escorted by a local ranger, bird walks with several hundreds species to observe, horse back and camel safaris. Overnights at Sweetwaters Tented Camp, where all tents face a waterhole where numerous animals regularly come to drink. [BLD] DAYS 3-4 : LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK Morning drive at Sweetwaters and then this afternoon drive via Nyahururu Falls into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park (approximately 4 hours). A seasonal home to thousands of pink flamingos, Nakuru is also habitat for large numbers of reedbuck, waterbuck and gazelle herds as well as birds of prey and the endangered white rhino. Visit the baboon cliffs for a spectacular overview of the park! Day 4 will be spent on game drives in the Park. Overnight at Lion Hill Sarova Lodge or similar [BLD] Maasai boma DAYS 5-7 : MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE Our journey today takes us from Lake Nakuru to the Maasai Mara (approximately 6-7 hours). No other place on earth compares with the multitudes of wild animals found in the world-renowned Maasai Mara Game Reserve, part of the vast Serengeti ecosystem spanning across Kenya and Tanzania. Year-round, wildlife is plentiful and big predators such as lion, cheetah, hyena and leopard may be seen. Birds and antelope species are prolific in this world famous wildlife habitat. Our base is the Sarova Mara Camp, a tented camp located on the southeast boundary of the reserve on a natural hill between two streams. Activities include game drives (half or full-day) and a casual, informative, walk with resident naturalists. Hot-air balloon safaris and additional walks are available at additional cost. Three nights at the Sarova Mara Camp or similar [BLD] DAY 8 : NAIROBI-DEPART FOR USA OR BEGIN EXTENSION After breakfast depart for Nairobi by vehicle (driving time is approximately 5 hours). Dayroom at a the Stanley Hotel or similar. (Morning or afternoon flights from the Maasai Mara to Nairobi are available at extra cost.)
