Trip details
Saturday - Arrive at Halifax International Airport and meet your Serendipity Traveler guide who will accompany you for the duration of the trip. We will transfer to our hotel in the center of the bustling, seaport city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Halifax is hosting thirty-five of the world's most unique and historic sailing vessels known as "Tall Ships" and we have timed this trip to enjoy their visit. The Nova Scotia Schooner Association will also be participating in this extraordinary Tall Ship event. We will gather together this evening for a welcome dinner on the Halifax waterfront. D
Sunday - We begin today with a tour of the city of Halifax, visiting Citadel Hill, Pier 21 “Gateway to Canada”, and the Maritime Museum where the Titanic exhibit is located. This evening is open for your exploration of the city - perhaps a boat trip, a stroll along the waterfront, or hearing some local musicians. B/L
Monday - Pack your bags this morning and we will take a short drive to join the Evangeline Trail, visiting Grand Pre and Blomidon Park, which overlooks the Bay of Fundy. After lunch, we will cross the province to the South Shore of Atlantic Canada, stopping in Lunenburg, a UNESCO world heritage town. Before our arrival there, we will stop at the Settler’s Museum in beautiful Mahone Bay and visit the working studios of the Amos Family, where pewter continues to be handcrafted by local artisans. B/L
Tuesday - Today, we will enjoy a guided walking tour of Lunenburg’s historical, “Old Town”, planned in 1754 and well preserved today, followed by a private tour of the recently restored landmark, St. Johns Anglican Church, situated in the quaint old town. This afternoon, we will opt for a whale watch, boat tour, beach walk, or a visit to the Fisheries Museum as we experience the comings and goings of the colorful waterfront. A treat from some local fiddlers or perhaps a bagpiper will enrich our dinner experience this evening. B/D
Wednesday - We will depart Lunenburg very, very early this morning with breakfast enroute in order to make a stop at the rocky shore of Peggy's Cove before hundreds of others arrive. This most visited sight is best enjoyed very early morning or late evening. We will continue on to board the local ferry to beautiful Prince Edward Island, home to potatoes and red farmlands, salt marshes, rich wildlife, and windswept beach dunes. Do you remember reading, "Anne of Green Gables"? A visit to the Green Gables Museum will rekindle this classic story. B/L
Thursday - This morning, we will tour various regions of this charming island, wandering through the National Park and rolling countryside with miles of beaches and several villages to explore. The afternoon will be unplanned for perhaps another walk by the sea, a visit to a gallery, or whatever you may wish to do before our farewell dinner this evening - the traditional lobster dinner for which PEI is so famous. B/D
Friday - With salty memories of this colorful, maritime region we will leave the charm and beauty of Prince Edward Island this morning to departfor the Halifax International Airport via the Confederate Bridge. B
- This trip has some women-only departures.
