ITINERARY IN DETAIL
DAY 01: Arrive TRIPOLI
Ahlaan wasahlaan, "Welcome to Libya.” You will be warmly welcomed at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The drive gives you your first glimpse into the life of the people who live in the capital city.

DAY 02: TRIPOLI
Your Libyan experience starts with a tour of Tripoli, founded by the Phoenicians in 1000 B.C. and later conquered by the Romans. Your tour of this beautiful metropolis covers the huge fortress, the National Museum, the old souq and the Islamic quarters.

DAY 03: TRIPOLI-BENGHAZI
You will take a short flight to the second largest and most beautiful city of Libya, Benghazi. Upon arrival in Benghazi, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This evening, enjoy a typical dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 04 APOLLONIA & PTOLEMAIS
Today, you will visit incredible Apollonia (Sousa), which was the port of Cyrene and is located 20 kilometres (12 miles) to the north. Your visit includes the majestic Theatre, the Roman baths and the Byzantine palace.

DAY 05 LEPTIS MAGNA
The highlight of any journey to Libya is visiting the renowned World Heritage Site of Leptis Magna, located east of Tripoli. From a Berber settlement, it became an important community when it was established as a city by the Canaanites and it reached its climax under the rule of Roman Emperor Septimus Severus. You will visit the vast site, including the triumphal arch, huge basilica, forum, public baths, hippodrome, and amphitheater. Lunch will be at the local restaurant at the site before returning to Tripoli.

DAY 06 TRIPOLI-GHADAMES
Today, you head south to the Saharan oasis of Ghadames. En route, you will stop at the "ghost town" of Nalut, located high in the Nafusa Mountains. Nalut offers insights into the traditional life-styles of the local people prior to the discovery of oil, which enabled them to move from caves to concrete structures. After a tour of Nalut, you head further south towards the immense Sahara Desert. Lunch is at a romantic oasis in the middle of nowhere.

DAY 07 GHADAMES
This oasis was settled from prehistoric times and was a major port of call for the traders and pilgrims en route to Mecca. Ghadames is a beautiful desert town that has retained its original culture, visible in the narrow lane streets lined with mud-bricked architecture. Your tour will cover both the old ghost town and the desert sand dunes. In the evening you will witness the desert sunset, depending on the weather.

DAY 08 GHADAMES-NALUT-TRIPOLI
Today you drive to Tipoli, checking into your hotel on arrival. The rest of the day is at leisure.
