ITINERARY

DAY 01 DELHI

Upon arrival, you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight: Tivoli Garden

DAY 02 DELHI

In the morning, you’ll have a city tour of Old Delhi and explore the Red Fort with its pearl mosque and exquisite audience halls. See the Jama Masjid mosque, with its marble domes and splendour minarets, Raj Ghat (where Gandhiji was cremated), the Ashoka Pillar and mile long Chandni Chowk Bazaar, where craftsmen sell their wares. In the afternoon, you will visit New Delhi, a city designed and built by the British in the 1920s. It is a city of wide boulevards, impressive government buildings, green parks and gardens. See the buildings of the British, the Qutab Minar and Emperor Humayun’s Tomb.

Overnight: Tivoli Garden

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 03 DELHI-AGRA via SIKANDRA

In the morning, you will be driven to Agra. En route visit Sikandra, situated across the Yamuna River, which houses the tomb of Emperor Akbar. An interesting feature here is that one cannot see all the four minarets of the structure from one point; one of them will always be behind the other in the viewer’s line of vision.

In the afternoon, you’ll have a tour of Agra. With its laid-back lifestyle and its immense wealth of architecture, handicrafts and jewellery, Agra is among the most remarkable cities of the world. The sightseeing tour starts from Taj Mahal, the most perfect architectural monument in the world, erected by Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, Queen Mumtaz Mahal. Begun in 1632, completion of the white marble edifice required the work of 20,000 men for 21 years. You will also visit Agra Fort, a fort that represents the architecture in the periods of the three great Mughal Emperors.

Overnight: Jaypee Palace

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 04 AGRA-JAIPUR

Leaving Agra, you will drive through countryside to the beautiful walled city of Fatehpur Sikri, built to commemorate the birth of Akbar's son. The building of this capital was substantially completed in 1574 but 14 years later the city was abandoned, perhaps at the whim of an imperial favourite, and the immense labour of building the "city of victory" went for nothing. Visit the Redstone mosques, courtyards and the palace where Akbar reputedly once played chess using slave girls as pawns. Afterwards, proceed to Jaipur.

Overnight: Narain Niwas Palace

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 05 JAIPUR

Take an early morning ride by elephant-back to the ramparts of Amber Fort, a spectacular fortress that protects a complex of palaces, temples and exquisite marble and mirror halls and apartments. The “pink city” of Jaipur is one of India's most fascinating cities. There you will also see the Hava Mahal (Palace of the Winds), a high and intricately carved wall behind which women of the court were sequestered while watching processions. You will visit Jantar Mantar (Observatory) and the City Palace, which contains an excellent collection of Rajasthani costumes, miniatures and an armoury of Rajput weapons.

Overnight: Narain Niwas Palace

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 06 JAIPUR-BIKANER

This morning, you’ll be driven to Bikaner. Your afternoon sightseeing tour consists of the 16th century Junagadh Fort, which is one of the accomplished Rajput monuments and consists of thirty-seven palaces, pavilions and temples. You will also visit the camel breeding farm.

Overnight: Gainer Palace

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 07 BIKANER-JAISALMER

In the morning, you will proceed to the 12th century city of Jaisalmer, dominated by its sandstone fort of 99 bastions. The city is a mass of intricately carved buildings and facades and elaborate balconies with its fort and palaces constructed of yellow stone.

Overnight: Gorbandh Palace

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 08 JAISALMER

You will have a morning city tour of Jaisalmer. Visit the exquisitely carved havelies (mansions) and palaces with their latticed windows, balconies, cupolas and facades. See the citadel built by Rawal, the Jain temples and the Patwon Ki Haveli. This afternoon, you will have a camel ride, experiencing the famed camel safaris and desert camps. The romantic character of Rajasthan and its life revolves around its desert.

Overnight: Gorbandh Palace

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 09 JAISALMER-JODHPUR

This morning, you will drive to Jodhpur. On the way, visit the Jain temple complex of Osian, built in the 8th century, with beautiful and fascinating sculptures.

Overnight: Hotel Ajit Bhawan

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 10 JODHPUR

Your morning tour of Jodhpur includes the Mehrangarh Fort. This magnificent fort dominates this 15th century city. You will also visit Jaswant Thada, a royal cenotaph, which is close by. In addition, you will visit Umaid Bhawan Palace, the royal residence, a part of which is now a hotel.

Overnight: Hotel Ajit Bhawan

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 11 JODHPUR-KUMBALGARH

This morning, you will drive to Kumbhalgarh, the second most important citadel of Mewar after Chittaurgarh. Range upon range of the Aravallis protect this impregnable fortress. Thirteen mountain peaks surround it, and it is built on the topmost ridge, 914 metres above sea level. Seven great gates stand sentinel at the approaches and seven ramparts, one within the other with crenellated walls strengthened by rounded bastions and immense watch towers, making this an impenetrable mountain fortress.

Overnight: Hotel Aodhi

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

DAY 12 KUMBALGARH-UDAIPUR

En route to Udaipur, you will stop in Ranakpur to see the Jain temples, set in deep secluded valleys. The halls and pillars are adorned with intricate and delicate carvings. Afterwards, you will continue to Udaipur.
