England Walking: Rambling in the Classic Cotswolds

Snuggled in the green low-lying hills northwest of Oxford lie the Cotswolds, a region resonating in poetic imagery and picture-perfect landscapes. Once the center of England’s wool trade, today the area is a walker’s paradise. Footpaths once trod upon by Celts and Romans crisscross gently rolling terrain, leading from wide-open pastures to honey-hued hamlets with charming thatch-roofed houses and yards festooned with flowers. Our resident Cotswolds guide and historian joins us as we amble from inn to inn, pausing to exchange greetings with the locals and to admire some of England’s finest gardens. more
