Villa Adriana is set in the heart of Chianti, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Originally built as a convent during the 13th century, the property has been lovingly restored by its current owners, who add to the charm. Beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, and antique furnishings preserve a sense of history. Interior spaces are warm and welcoming. Lace-curtained windows overlook breathtaking views of the Chianti countryside and there are many spots to relax or dine al fresco outdoors. Built around an interior courtyard, Villa Adriana is like its own tiny village and is divided into three separate accommodations, each with private entrance, which makes it flexible for groups large and small.
Art lovers will be fascinated by the myriad of paintings and frames that adorn Villa Adriana. One of the owners is a painter who also restores paintings and creates traditional scraffito frames that add to the ambience.
The villa is well located and easy to reach, at the end of a quiet unpaved road. Nearby Tavernelle (5 minutes) has grocery shops, a choice of wonderful restaurants and one of our favorite Italian coffee bars. Start the morning with a frothy cappuccino and one of their incredibly delicious cornetti. Nearby Marcialla is home to a summer music festival, and within easy reach are Bargino, San Casciano, San Donato, and the famous villages along the ancient Chianti wine road. Florence is an easy drive, just 25 minutes to the Porta Romana.
A large swimming pool (15 x 7 meters) overlooks the picturesque setting, with changing rooms, shower, lounge chairs and umbrellas. A BBQ and pizza oven add to the fun. Each accommodation is furnished with satellite TV, and laundry facilities are available on the premises. Le Suore and Vescovo have wireless internet access.
