Trip details
The day begins with a stop at the breathtaking Pali Lookout. From there you will get an overview of the section of land that will be the focus for the day while gaining information on how ancient Hawaiian communities worked. The next stop will be the first of two archaeological sites in the Kailua ahupua‘a (land division), where you will get an extensive tour of the site, including the importance of the area in ancient and modern Hawaiian culture, the surrounding flora & fauna, and current efforts for restoration. We then arrive at the second site, where you will again get a comprehensive tour of the area. After a quick snack you'll get your hands dirty, working side by side with local volunteers to help in the ongoing efforts to beautify and restore the site. You'll enjoy a deli lunch with your work mates before heading off to beautiful Kailua Beach, one of Oahu's finest, for a well-earned dip in the sparkling blue waters. In one day you'll experience Oahu Island from mountain to sea, and know that you've left Hawai‘i more beautiful than when you arrived.
