All of our Maya Escapes are designed for travelers seeking a quick getaway to an exotic destination. The Tikal and Antigua Escape combines the ancient Maya city of Tikal National Park with Guatemala's colonial capitol Antigua, Guatemala a UNESCO world heritage site. Enjoy a naturalist guided hike among spectacular Maya ruins surrounded by pristine rainforest full of birds and wildlife. In the Spanish Colonial City of Antigua, Guatemala amble down historic cobblestone streets filled with the colorful handicrafts of the living Maya.

Day 1 - Arrive Flores, Guatemala

Our local representatives will meet you at Maya World International Airport (new official name of the Flores/Tikal Airport). Transfer to hotel located on the shore of Lake Peten Itza, only 5 minutes away.

Day 2 - Tikal National Park

Spend the Day in the company of an expert Maya guide exploring the magnificent achievements of these fascinating ancient people. At its height Tikal was home to over 100,000 Maya and was a cultural and political center. It becomes easy to imagine life in the city as you explore temples, plazas, multi leveled palaces, ball courts and living areas. Howler and Spider monkeys, coatamundi, are commonly seen while the elusive jaguar and ocelot are know to survive in this protected rainforest reserve. Almost 300 species of bird have been identified in Tikal including toucans, motmots and parrots. At the days end; return to your Flores hotel.

Many travelers choose to add another night in Flores to further explore the rich diversity of the Peten region. Additional nights cost $75 per night including breakfast.

Day 3 - Flores to Antigua, Guatemala

Enjoy a free morning to explore Flores, a small town built on an island in Lake Peten Itza. Wander the narrow streets and hilltop central plaza flanked by charming houses, shops and restaurants with red tile roofs. From Flores take a short mid day scenic flight to Guatemala City. Upon arrival you are transferred to the historic Hotel Antigua or similar. This evening is free to shop and dine among rich history.

Day 4 - Antigua, Guatemala

Amble among cobblestone avenues lined with 500 year old monasteries, restored churches and palatial haciendas of Antigua. Your guide interprets the rich history of Guatemala's former Capital. The colonial center of Antigua is designed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Our guides will help you make the most of a free afternoon shopping, touring or hiking.

Many travelers choose to add another night to explore Guatemala's culturally rich highlands. Additional nights cost $100 per night including breakfast.

Day 5 – Depart

Our local representative will transfer you to the Guatemala City International Airport for your departing flight.

Single Travelers: Rates are available for single travelers.

Land Cost Includes: Each itinerary includes all lodging as listed on the itinerary or similar; meals as indicated; all airport/hotel transfers when arriving and departing the stated arrival and departure dates of the trip; all land, air and water transportation within destination; entrance fees to national parks and reserves as specified; and guide services as specified.

Not Included: International airfare to/from the destination; excess baggage fees; the cost of obtaining passports; visas or tourist cards; airport arrival and departure taxes; meals not specified in the itinerary; alcoholic beverages; personal expenses such as room service; beverages and laundry; personal communication charges; and gratuities to tour escort, guides or drivers. US$30 international departure tax out of Flores or Guatemala City is not included. International departure taxes may be already charged in your international air ticket, check about it with your travel agent. Personal or travel insurance coverage is not included but STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
