When you arrive in Frankfurt after an overnight flight, you’ll be met and transferred to Cologne where the ms River Navigator awaits. Tonight you’ll have your first of many meals from an exquisite menu, designed exclusively for this specially themed river cruise. In addition, each meal will be accompanied by the perfect wine, selected by your prestigious shipboard wine expert.

Cologne, Germany / Set Sail
Tour beautiful Cologne. You'll visit the famous Chocolate Museum where you’ll view exhibits illustrating the history and process of creating chocolate confections. In the evening you’re invited to the Captain’s Welcome Party & Dinner.

Cochem, Germany
Awake in the heart of the Moselle Valley wine country, now turned golden in the fall, and famous for delicious Rieslings. You’ll disembark in Cochem, laced with narrow alleys, dotted with half-timbered houses, and encircled by an ancient wall. You’ll visit the Reichsburg — towers and turrets make it the epitome of a fairytale medieval castle. Back on board, a local vintner will lead a tasting of Moselle wines.

Trier, Germany
Your morning tour highlights Trier's incredible Roman remains. Then, after lunch on board, you’ll learn how centuries-old Roman recipes were prepared using ancient cooking techniques and sample a few dishes. In addition to cuisine, the Romans left behind a great wine legacy as well — some vines in this region were planted 2,000 years ago, yet they still bear fruit.

Rüdesheim, Germany
Listen to the tale of the Lorelei as you cruise past legendary cliffs and castles en route to Rüdesheim, a perfect Rhine Valley wine town with winding lanes and half-timbered houses. Here you’ll be treated to a wine tasting at Vollrads Castle, surrounded by vineyards that produce celebrated Rheingau Rieslings.

Arriving in Speyer, you’ll disembark to visit the town’s romanesque cathedral. Return to the ship for lunch.

From Greffern,you’ll set out on excursion to the famous spa-town of Baden-Baden, where you’ll see the historic gaming halls, sip the healing waters of the Trinkhalle (spa), and visit the famous Lichtenhaler Allee Casino. Then you’ll be treated to lunch and a cooking demonstration at the celebrated Kurhaus restaurant.

Basel, Switzerland
You’ll have your choice of two tours in Basel, either a walking tour of the city or a visit to the Beyeler Museum in Riehen. Your second day in Basel you’ll set out on a full-day excursion into the Bernese Alps. You’ll get acquainted with Lucerne, the famous resort boasting snow-capped Alps, shimmering ice-blue lakes, covered bridges, and quaint cobblestone streets. If you like, ascend Mount Pilatus on an optional tour — for incomparable alpine views.

Breisach, Germany
Today you’ll drive to Colmar, France and tour this pretty Alsatian market town. Then you can choose to visit either the Unterlinden Museum, which showcases fine German art, or the Bartholdi Museum, dedicated to the sculptor of The Statue of Liberty. This evening you’ll dine on fine Alsatian cuisine at a Château, located along the famed Alsace Route du Vin. Dishes from the region include hearty casseroles and stews slowly cooked with herbs and spices and, not surprisingly, dashes of the local wines.

Picturesque Strasbourg is the cultural capital of the French region of Alsace, celebrated for its exceptional gastronomic tradition. You’ll set out on a tour by canal boat and foot showcasing the ultra-modern European Union Parliament; the quaint shops and canals of “La Petite France,” the city’s famous old town; and the Tanner’s Quarter, brimming with half-timbered houses.

Bid the ms River Navigator adieu this morning, then enjoy a full day’s drive through the lush vineyards of France’s celebrated Champagne region, stopping for an included lunch at a local restaurant. Then, continue to Paris — the world capital of haute cuisine — and check in at your hotel located near Luxembourg Gardens and the Latin Quarter, home to wonderful restaurants.
In the morning you’re off to take in Paris’ grand landmarks — the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysees, and the Arc de Triomphe, and more — on a panoramic tour. You’ll also visit a local French market, where experts will show you how to shop like the French. Following a free day, enjoy the lively atmosphere of a Farewell Dinner at one of Paris's warm and inviting brasseries, a quintessential Parisian experience.
