Trip details
Global Volunteers needs help providing services to the orphaned and disabled children of Poland. In 1990, Rural Solidarity invited Global Volunteers to send teams of volunteers to teach conversational English in rural communities of the Siedlce region. Since then, more than 1,500 short-term volunteers have helped children prosper.
You will teach English language skills to ambitious Polish students and help ensure their futures. You will also work with "at-risk" and disabled children in a boarding school with art and cooking classes. During the Fall and Spring, volunteers teach in rural elementary and high school classrooms in the Siedlce region, east of Warsaw.
Emphasis is on conversation, and teachers and non-teachers alike are helpful. Summer teams teach at English language camps in the Tatra mountain village of Zakopane in southern Poland or at a manor house near Siedlce. Volunteers and Polish school students live and study together, take trips and play American games.
