Trip details

Itinerary: Adventures in Costa Rica

Day 1 - Meet in San José, Costa Rica, and transfer to hotel.

Day 2 - Drive to Puntarenas and ferry and paddle across the Gulf of Nicoya to a private beach camp at Curú National Wildlife Refuge.

Day 3 - Roundtrip paddle to nearby Tortuga Island. Optional afternoon paddle in a mangrove system or nature walk in Curú.

Day 4 - Early morning nature walk, then paddle to a nearby island for a picnic lunch and snorkeling. Afternoon return to San José.

Day 5 - Paddle sea kayaks down the Río Suerte into Tortuguero National Park, then paddle or motor to a lodge for overnight.

Day 6 - Easy kayaking in hidden lagoons only accessible by kayak.

Day 7 - Raft the fun and easy Pacuare River to a Robinson Crusoe-like jungle lodge.

Day 8 - Hike in the rainforest, looking for monkeys and tropical birds, enjoy an optional zipline across the river, and swim beneath a waterfall.

Days 9-10 - Paddle through Class III/IV rapids along the magical Pacuare River Gorge, with its cascading waterfalls. Take out and return to San José. Depart San José on Day 10.
