ORIGINAL & INVOLVED COMPANY OWNERS:

Because Mother Nature can sometimes throw us a curve ball, consistency and experience of leadership are critical for an adventure travel company. ROW has enjoyed consistent family ownership since 1979. Both ROW's owners continue to be active in all company operations.

DEPTH OF WHITEWATER GUIDING EXPERIENCE:

ROW guides have an average of eight years of river-guiding experience. Many have extensive wilderness medical training and are trained in interpretation, giving you cultural, historical and geological insights into the areas you travel through. Many of our guides have been with us for years.

HIGH GUIDE-TO-GUEST RATIO:

Our multi-day rafting trips typically offer you one guide for every three to four guests and on our one and two day trips, we staff one guide per six to seven guests, a far higher ratio than most other river outfitters. Because of this, ROW guides are more involved with our guests and join you at all meals, sharing conversation and laughter at mealtime and around the campfire.

RICH CULTURAL AND NATURAL INTERPRETATION:

Taking advantage of rock art sites, pioneer homesteads and natural wonders in the river canyons, ROW guides give entertaining, informative presentations on cultural and natural history. Many of our guides have college degrees in wildlife biology, geology, anthropology and other related fields. ROW provides a telescope on all trips lasting three or more days for sky viewing and wildlife watching. Trips also carry an extensive library with books on the natural and cultural history of the area.

WIDE CHOICE AND SUPERIOR QUALITY OF RIVER CRAFT:

We do our best to bring the type of river craft best suited to the group including oar rats, paddle rafts and inflatable kayaks. ROW has one of the newest fleets on the water with rafts that are usually five or less years old and our entire fleet is self-bailing! All rafting gear is included in the price of your trip and we replace all our gear (tents, sleeping bags, pfd's [life jackets], etc.) frequently.

FAMILY MAGICTM:

In 1988, ROW pioneered Family MagicTM trips to best meet the needs of children and their parents or grandparents. ROW owners are themselves parents and this helped shape the design of Family Magic itineraries and special features. These trips are staffed with a "River JesterTM" who leads games, nature exploration, and other activities. These trips are "families only" assuring all participating kids plenty of playmates. Our kids' menu would make Dr. Seuss drool.

PREPARED FOR EMERGENCIES:

ROW carries satellite telephones on all trips lasting three or more days, for emergency use only, giving us instant response times versus what is possible through country radios located at scattered ranches or ranger stations.

LUXURY CAMPING:

On most ROW trips a cargo boat with support staff goes ahead of the group and sets up a luxury river camp with spacious tents, dining tables, and chairs and sun showers. ROW includes all camping gear, including tents, sleeping bags, and thick foam self-inflating mattresses.

QUALITY OF OUR CUISINE:

ROW's delicious meals are made from fresh, healthy food and are bountiful feasts. Our hors d'oeuvres are legendary as is the famous ROW mustard bar at lunch. ROW provides sodas, juices, coffee, tea, cocoa and complimentary beer and wine in moderate amounts.

FAREWELL DINNER INCLUDED:

ROW includes in your trip package, for all trips lasting four or more days, a festive farewell dinner where guides and guests celebrate their adventure together.

RESERVATIONS ASSISTANCE WITH PRE/POST TRIP LODGING:

ROW staff takes care of making all hotel reservations before and after your trip.

ENVIRONMENTAL INTEGRITY:

ROW has always been an active supporter of river conservation. Throughout our operation we practice the Three R's - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
